SC Braga is preparing for the new season with changes in the goalkeeper roster. Bernardo Fontes returns to the Minho and Lukas Hornicek may be the starting goalkeeper at the World Cup. The 23-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper will be the backup to Hornicek, unless a club comes forward with the 30 million euros required to release the Czech international, who will represent his country at the World Cup and has a good chance of being the starting goalkeeper. In this scenario, there is little or no space for Alaa Bellaarouch, the Moroccan goalkeeper who arrived at the Pedreira in the summer of 2025 and may already be leaving. The former Strasbourg player wore the arsenalists' jersey only twice - against Lincoln Red Imps (5-1) in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off and against Nacional (4-2) in the fourth round of the Taça de Portugal - and was unable to establish himself against the giant of the Czech Republic, who was one of the team's figures. Bellaarouch is expected to continue his career elsewhere, possibly on loan or even on a permanent basis, if a favorable proposal is made to the SAD bracarense. Tiago Sá, the home player, 31 years old, who has been part of the main team of the Minho warriors for over a decade, will maintain his status as third goalkeeper, having played four games in 2025/26 (one in the league and three in the queen's proof). João Carvalho, the promising young player who played 28 games in the Liga 3 for the B team of SC Braga in the past season, is expected to be loaned to a Liga 2 emblem, which will be a competitive jump considered fundamental for the development of the under-21 international Portuguese player.
